Born on March 8, 1978, in Dhaka, Afsana Kishwar began her literary journey in 2000, writing for Jai Jai Din. Her talent was soon recognized when she received the Prothom Alo Best Feature Writer award, marking a significant milestone in her career. From that moment, there was no turning back. She became a regular contributor to renowned national and international newspapers and magazines, earning widespread recognition for her work.

Afsana’s first lyrical novel, Roznamcha: Valobasha, was a remarkable blend of poetic expression and storytelling, establishing her as a distinct literary voice. Though poetry remains her most cherished form of writing, she has also demonstrated exceptional skill in fiction. Her storytelling prowess is evident in her three notable storybooks—Nostalgia, Troirashik, and Pakhi o Somragge.

The year 2005 was particularly significant in her career. Her poetry collection Shobdoutshob, an exquisite compilation of sixty poems with profound artistic expression, garnered critical acclaim. That same year, Tenaganita, a multinational organization supporting migrant workers in Malaysia, published her work Probasher Khero Khata, which documented the experiences of overseas workers and was later adapted into a video project.

In the Ekushey Book Fair 2007, her poetry book Paltae Nari, Bahari was published by Annoprakash, further solidifying her reputation as a distinguished poet. Her fifth poetry collection, Jalpai Opochhondo Je Karone, and Korotite Mrittu, published in the Ekushey Book Fair 2010, continued to showcase her poetic brilliance.

Beyond literature, Afsana is also a professional banker, serving in a private local bank while continuing her passionate pursuit of writing.
